I have been wanting this lens for quite some time and was going to wait for the MkII version to come around.. So I thought it can't be any sharper than the Mk1 version so went ahead and bought this for portrait and candid work.:woot:
Sorry but the weather is crap tonight so just had to share this with you..:D

Hehe You need the lens caps to stop the lot falling over!
That is an impressive looking lump of glass :)
Let me know when you get bored with it I might make you an offer ;)

Congratulations, I remember you saying you would get one:)
That thing must way a tonne, especially with a 1D hanging off it - I would even say it makes the 1D look like a typical camera now with regards to scale;)

Sorry about the quality of the photo's but yes it looks very impressive if I say it myself..:)
Having hand held the 200mm f/1.8L and my 300mm f/2.8L this one feels quite managable but still quite strurdy.;)
tsk, tsk, look at the twisting on that camera strap ;) Congrats on the new lens :)

without using too many expletives; thats one **** of a big lens!! its almost as big as the 1dmkII you've got there.
congrats though... very nice and crispy. If I recall rightly the 85 1.2 is the widest lens canon do isn't it.
Congrats on the purchase, how much does it weigh, looks pretty huge!

Canon used to do a 50mm f/1, but it's quite difficult to obtain now.

f/1?!! was that about as massive as the 85?
I have read that the 50mm f1 wasn't actually all that good either.

F&M review says it all:
Even though its dinosaur weight, millionaire price-tag (3300€), shabby slow focus and not so sharp images at f1.0 I will rate it EXCELLENT.
it's meant for low-light work
You certainly have a nice looker there!....and the camera and the new lens look alright too!.......sorry only joking, i have a dry(crap) sense of humour. The lens is really sharp, i daren't ask how much they are,i have zeiss 50mm f1.7 prime on my contax rx, and i thought that was razor sharp..till now ... ...not jealous at all ..honest...enjoy
