i have a d70s body and also a d40 body, now not too long ago the police chopper was flying lowish over the house and i thought id grab a few snaps of it flying past

first i tried my d70's body with my 55-200mm vr lens with the vr on and off in auto mode sports mose and S but it wouldnt focus properly and jjust hunted

then i slapped it on the d40 and focus was perfect and quick

now is this down to the lens having a motor in it and the d70s body also having a motor? seemed a bit strange to me

Cheers

No idea, but could the rotor blades confuse it?

Nopers, nothing to do with motors, probably something to do with af points.
D70 has 5, D40 has 3, so it'll depend on which/how many were active, and what area mode was selected.

Single Area AF
Dynamic Area AF
Closest Subject Priority Dynamic Area AF

LOL @ thread title, sounded like you went to sleep a man and woke up as a woman...

Anyway, as above sounds like an AF setting issue but it could be the D40 has a newer AF system thats probably faster and more accurate than the D70.

I had a D70 for a month, didnt really like it so i bought a D200.
