alright,
basically im looking to get a telephoto thats goes up to atleast 200mm but 300mm would be nicer. ive been looking around and i like the sigma 120-400mm but is it sharp? im looking to spend 300 pounds or near abouts.
can anyone recomened something to me thats sharp and aroudn that sort of price?

im using a 400d at the moment but in the near future im planning to upgrade to a 30/40d

The Sigma is a bit soft above 250mm, the Tamron equivalent, LD DI version is sharper but is known to show pretty bad CA , my copy did anyway. Don't own a Canon so can't comment on their particular options

seen second hand ones go for 500 plus (nikon fit though)

Great lens the 70-200 is but make sure you are happy with just 200mm zoom, its not really enough if you want to do motorsport shots

ive been looking at the canon 100-300mm f/4.5 would anyone her recomend it?
Have you considered the Canon 55-250mm IS? By most accounts it's seriously impressive...
