I hired a Canon 24-70 f2.8L last week and it was great. I had been thinking about the 24-105 but I used the wide aperture quite a bit outside of the studio.
My only problem is finance. I really can't stretch to the £700'ish for the Canon. I know it's a great lens, but that really is off the table right now, as I need a new flash and tripod as well. It's going onto my 40D and although I don't want to, it will enable me to sell on the 350D with a couple of lenses as a kit and raise some cash for a couple of other bits I want.
So, after doing a bit of checking around it seems that the Sigma 24-60 f2.8 is a good alternative (link) (http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/lenses/standardzoom/24-60mm.htm). I know the build quality won't be the same, and that there isn't any real comparison between the two (The canon is regarded as one of their best ever) but I'd like some feedback from anybody that has the Sigma.
I've seen it at sub £200, which is a bit of a surprise....
So, those that have.had this lens, please feel free to comment.
I've just seen the thread from se-bmxer in which he mentions the the latest 24-70, so I'll continue this in that thread.....
Thanks,
Steve
