View Full Version : Fens anyone?
It's actually a bit out of the way from here but if anyone fancies spending some time around Wicken fen sometime soon I would be happy to organise something. There's scope for landscaping, lots of water obviously, boats etc and a few wildlife sanctuaries around. If there's enough interest I'll pick some dates.
I guess that's ano then lol. Jeez it's gonna be lonely out there on me own
We went to Wicken Fen this past weekend. Drove almost 2 hours and was really disappointed to find no access for me (in a wheelchair or parking close to some action)when we got there :( spent the rest of the day sulking as I was really looking forward to it.
It does look like a beautiful place though, and we will return one day when and if I become mobile again. Some gorgeous housing and lanscaping there! So I recommend folks think about meeting up for this one
Thanks for that Jo. I intend going out there at some point anyway but it's always nice to share the experience. Sorry you can't get around there but hopefuly you will eventually :-)

Is in Cambridgeshire David.
Long way from you David. It the flat area reclaimed from the sea and Wicken fen is in Cambridgeshire (I think!)
I might be up for it, depends when obviously, have heard its good there.
I'll wait a few days to see how many are interested then pick a couple of days to choose from. I am thinking not sooner than two or three weeks - just to see if the rain stops :-)

I'm interested in this as well, just need to check that the date does not clash with some school trip or other - are kids ever actually at school this time of year?
I really like Wicken Fen but it's ages since I've been. I'll be moving back to Suffolk at the start of July and would be up for a trip after that if the dates are good for me (and I've actually made a decision on which camera to buy!).
Early July actually sounds like a good plan. So what camera did you decide on Cat?

Ah, no I meant my attendance is conditional on having actually decided on a camera! I'm torn between a 2nd hand 350D, a 2nd hand 400D and a new 400D. I can't really afford a new 400D but they are such a good deal at the moment, but I could still get the second hand 350D for about £100 less. Ahh, decisions, decisions...
If you can get the 350D for £100 it's worth grabbing. I was going to sell my 350 when I got the 5D but I've kept it as a reserve and probably carry it around more than the 'big one' unles I am going out with plan to shoot something specific.

Sorry, If I could get it for £100 I'd already have it! I meant that the 2nd hand 350D is £100 cheaper than the new 400D - about £220 vs £325. I think I'm confusing myself now! Anyway, I'm keen on a visit to Wicken Fen and will have a camera of some kind, even if it's my film camera! :)
Lol ok I was getting confused too. Well if it comes to it you are welcome to borrow my 350 for the day eitherway
I might be interested in this too.
I am looking at my diary and I think the only days I am going to be able to do this are Sunday 29 June or Saturday 5 July. I am thinking of starting around mid day and then staying out there until sun down.
Does that work for anyone?
