Inspired by IanC_UK shots from Iceland, I thought I'd post a few from Yellowstone NP

In 2003 I had a 3 week trip in Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota taking in Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, Badlands and much more :) . At the time I had no interest in photography and only borrowed a little point and shoot film camera. If only I'd known :bang:

Now I would love to go back, but it's not the easiest part of the USA to get to, we had to fly to Chicago - Denver- Jackson Hole so not cheap either.

Anyway a few shots from Yellowstone.

I love one and two! It's the kind of subject matter where it almost doesn't matter it was "just" a P&S camera. Do you know, is it possible to swim in the pool in the second photo? Looks tempting! :D

You would boil to death in the pools as they are very very hot. The place is just boiling water mud and steam. There are some hot springs in Lake Yellowstone itself, and it's said you can catch a fish then with it still on the hook cast to another part of the lake , whip it back and it'll be cooked.

No 1 is ace :) but I'd loved to have seen more height on it. A case for a portrait oriented shot I think...

edit - just seen no 6 - that'll do!

Great shots, looks a nice place to visit, it's on my list of places to go.
