A good car can't make somebody a good driver anymore than a good camera can make somebody a good photog.

it's not an M3, it's what is known as a BMW compact, a smaller version of the 3 series.

I think so many people have only ever driven FWD motors and when they get into a RWD, they have no idea what to do when the back end steps out (just like the BMW driver in that clip).

*memories of many hours of fun of opposite lock in my old Capri back in the 80s*

thats why they have traction control and stability control on as default.
i drove a 500bhp AMG Merc E-series on a skid pan and tried to spin it - it was impossible (until we turned the ESP off, then it was a lot more fun :) )

yeah looks more like driver error than anything else.

rear wheel drive is fun to play with in the wet with TC turned off.

ok 4wd will give you more grip but I would say that its more a case of the driver of the BM being a gimp rather than a problem with the car.

I still giggled though (has he put his hazzards on at the end?)

....until the driver puts more and more trust in 'the machine' to save his butt until one day he just totally overcooks it (like on that clip?) and heads off the road into a big accident. If there had been a tree on the edge of the road, that might have been a fatal accident.

I just don't believe in traction control etc: you should learn how much power you can put down and how to control a skid if one happens and not trust it all to electronics.

Yes, and I drive a BMW and think it's rather a good car!

The Compact on the other hand.....

The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.
I must confess that generally I do not like any of the German Cars, but that is me, and I am sure that you would hate what I drive.

Renault Grand Scenic for a few more months until I change it, its a Company car, about 107k on it in under 3 years and has been as sound as a pound.

lol that was funny....but hey can't blame the car as it WAS the 'not so great' version :D. proud X5 driver here (and you can't pull the Jeremey Clarkson line on me for having it!) because i've also got 'sporty' & 'elegant' cars in the family too, ....so i do have some taste! hehehe

That makes two of us

I've been thinking about that video, and I think the driver did it on purpose.
And good luck to the fella, if i had one i'd do the same thing
