Good shot.
Think about putting a textured sky in before converting it.
Also the bottom left corner is a little blacked out. If you had of done multiple shots exposing for the different areas then combined them, you would have an all round picture.

Thanks for the advice. I am still a beginner in many ways, technically, having mostly basic knowledge and a so called 'good eye'. Am now working on getting read up on the technical side of things so I can improve...wouldn't have a clue how to put in a textured sky, by the way, lol.

Certainly benefits from the textured sky and some adjustments to shadows n highlights.
Always good to have a library of sky images to drop in to add effect ;)

Nice shot Graelwyn. You could improve the bottom right hand corner by adjusting shadows and highlights if you have CS3. I like the perspective and you've got some nice detail in the brickwork
Daves edit is a good one :)

Thanks for the edits, guys, yes that looks sooo much better.
It is my next aim, to learn how to do these things... not sure which software would be best for me in terms of learning curve. I was thinking of ps elements?

You could always just wait for a nicer day when the sky looks better. :D
Graelwyn, I love the perspective of the shot, but the edit gives it an extra dimension.
If you're new to PP, then I would suggest Elements is the way to start.
If you don't mind getting a slightly older version ( Elements 5 ) look on the net - I think it can be picked up for around £36.
Also, buy a few magazines like Digital Camera & Digital Photo as they have CD's with PS & Elements tutorials.

Thanks Bazzer. I have an ex who is heavily into photography and might have a copy of CS2 or somesuch.
