Took over 700 on the night, these are litterally a random selection, really surprised how well the canon 40D performed in low light, lens was a tamron 17-50 F2.8, if only I could of got hold of a nifty fifty ! lol

I wish my University took an approach more similar to this, they seem to employ the same company time and again and they are awful.

Those are looking pretty good to me, i'd be made up if we ended up with photos of that quality at our balls/events.

Compared to some Ive seen, these are superb. Much better than that staged, formal pose, in front of the 70's background crap.

I love that blonde girls expression in No 5

Yeah we have a 'formal' photographer every year, and his are also AWEFUL, probably the same company that travels around, many people commented to me as to how bad they are and why people kept Q-ing up :cuckoo:

Iv got 100's of people in 'formal' poses that im going to sell at £2-£3 a shot, some £7-£8 cheaper than the proper guy, and many have already said they much prefer my shots

All I did to get this gig was to hunt down the events organiser and pester him alot, saying (as I am), part of the uni's photography society and me and another guy would like to be let in for free to take photos, the deal is the uni get a selection of shots from me for there use, but I keep the copyright, thus allowing me to sell them :)

Cheers :), top 2 shots were athelete, and the crazy dudes are the cuban brothers

great night shots....like the colours, etc. and doesnt look like much iso noise :D! your pic. no.5 of the crowd has a lovely lighting tone...can i ask how you illuminated them for that shot?? i really struggled to get good lighting results under a marquee at an event i did recently (d'oh!)

Not a glass in site - youngsters eh !!

Nice shots - certainly capture the atmosphere, and look natural rather than posed.

Not surprised with health and safety being what it is. Bottles and cans all the way. Or hip flasks for those of us who know what we're doing.

And that's some good work there, CS. Sorry you had to listen to Athlete though :(

Yeah sure, was a canon 40D with a (borrowed) Canon 580EX II pointed straight up so the light bounces off the white curtain roof, that tent was just about perfect for portrait shots, like a giant light box, gave fantastic lighting results.

LOL @ the athelete comments, they wernt -that- bad,lol :D, if you dont like them you will be pleased to hear the lead singer fell off the stage !! got his footing wrong near the front, happened to step down onto what he thought was a step, turns out it was a trolley with wheels, falls straight off, looked painful to be fair, a good 2.5 feet straight onto his back, broke his guitar, crowed went wild, and iv never seen someone look so embarrased in there life, unfort my cam was taking a shot of the guiatarist as he fell, so missed the falling shot!

The entire (232) photoset is here:

is watermarked though as im selling the shots
