View Full Version : Sunset at Loch Arkaig.....
Clouded over in the afternoon so I got heinously drunk. Got the fire going and sat around lamenting the final day of our holiday. About 30 minutes before the sun dipped below the horizon the clouds started to break. Big grin on my face beaten only by the big grin when the fishermen camped next to us brought us a big steak from the trout they'd hoiked out of the loch 15 minutes previously.
I've never had fish that tasted so good or was so fresh!
Anyway, I digress......

Beautiful as ever :) but is that horizon a teeny weeny bit skew ;) Right hand side slightly higher? or is it me :nuts: That's being really nit picky though - I'm only jealous :D

I thought it was optically illusioned but it's not, you're right.

I happen to think you're both partly right and wrong! :bang:
If it is out it's a fraction of a millimetre and mostly that'll be the very hard to correct 'moustache' distortion of the siggy 10-20mm. :bonk:
Mostly it's an optical illusion.
Best way to check is to scroll the image or move the browser window so the horizon in question is level with the bottom or top of the screen
Now leave me to enjoy the fruits of my labours in peace ;)

I've just done the browser test and it's out 2.3mm!! (as if I would measure it!):nono: Seriously, who really cares - it's a gorgeous shot! Enjoy ;)
Its a cracker of a shot. Last time I was there the mist was so thick you couldnt see the water till you were paddling in it:lol:

lol.
I just checked too and now I'm slinking off with my tail between my legs ;)

Yeah, wouldn't recommend paddling here unless you can see where you are in relation to the shore. It drops off extremely sharply about 8-10' out. And I can't swim! :shake:

Beautiful colours in this and I like the way they are reflected so nicely in the water!
As for the wonky horison, its always hard to tell when the shoreline curves round in the distance - as I expect the left shoreline was closer to the camera than the right. I always use the rulers in photshop and pull down a guide line to see how stright mine are.
Gandi - excellent, nowt else to add

I love this, would love to be able to nail seascapes the way you do.

Gorgeous and so is the other one you did.
I sure would love to get somewhere a little more attractive than Southampton sometime soon, lol.
I guess you had to be there.
