Took this with my new Canon 100-400mm IS USM L lens and 2x extender with a 300D the other week at the solar eclipse in Southern Turkey. I was well pleased with the way it came out and thought I'd share it with you lot :D

Multiple exposures 1/250s - 5s f11 ISO100

Cheers

Nick

Cracking capture - how many NDs did you stack up to avoid frying your sensor ;)

That is some image! Hope the sensor survived. Thanks for sharing something most of us are unlikely to see for a while.
So different from the usual smoked glass shots.

Thanks guys and gals :D

To comment on a few of your comments...

Do I know what I'm doing? Not usually, I tend to make it up as I go along a lot of the time. This time however I did have a sort of plan ;)

No sensor frying going on here. I used a Baader solar film filter for the really bright partial phases of the eclipse, but during totality it's safe for the naked eye and cameras to be unfiltered. So the camera was quite safe for this shot in particular :D

Thanks again

Nick
