Shot my first wedding on Friday.
Took over 2500 shots  but only had chance to work through a couple of them so far.
Would love some C&C please.

No, I was just banking on the law of averages, if I shot 2500, at least a few would be ok :D

looke like a great start.

be careful about chopping peoples feet off

i like selective coulouring but be aware some people may say its out dated. i have couples that ask for it.

Cheers jolsterj,
I was gutted when I noiced I had lopped his feet off, I will look out for that in future.
I'm not a fan of selective coulouring my self but the couple asked for it, as it turns out, I think it looks ok

I'd lose the black bits on the right of the first, 2 is great and 3 is superb. Good luck getting through the other 2497 shots :D

1st shot : nice expressions but v. little detail in brides dress
2nd shot: groom looks like a tailors dummy and even less detail in her dress
3rd shot: far superior all round, cropping to portrait format would be even better

If I was you I'd sling no.2 before anyone else sees it :bonk:

Hi ivoripod,
Thanks for the feedback, I did shoot the entire day in RAW so I was thinking about changing the exposure levels then layering the images to bring back some detail in the dress.

I'm not going to take any of the shots down, I'm here to get feedback and learn.

Well, you are a brave man for taking it on in the first place so well done for having the guts to do so!

First one a slight crop to lose that black bit on the right will do nicely.

The second one, I'm afraid the groom looks like he is terrified to go anywhere near to poor girl!

Third one I quite like the PP but could use a crop, there is a lot of "stuff" you don't need especially on the left.

Quite promising though. Take your time and go back and look twice at every shot that you work on, check the backgrounds and the edges.

And well done!

Cheers AliB & Marky_h,
Thanks for the commets, still going over all the shots so as soon as I have a final set, I will get them posted.
Some of the wedding was shot with the canon Niffty Fifty as part of the "Niffty Fifty on tour" so I will make a point of highlighting them.

Well done you for attempting it. From the first shots looks like you did a good job. Like the first and last and wont repeat what's already been pointed out

Cheers DD,
I'm starting to make some headway on the rest of the photos and am finding some of the bride and groom much better than number 2

i like no.1 but as said, crop off the black bits.
no.2 is ok, but the dress trails a bit odly round the front of the tree for me.
i like no.3 but moving to your right a little (if it was possible, may have got the other car out of shot.
sorry if i,m being a little picky, but thats only my opinion.

Well dont want to pull you apart but, 17 years as a wedding photographer, and well.
Number 1 straighten the background
Number 2 no feet and blown out highlights.
Number 3 blown out highlights.

Sorry mate, none of those shots do anything for me,

No.1 - Selective colouring is a bit dated in my book now, and as PL said above background needs to be straightened, which is an easy fix in PS, would be nice to see the original colour version with background straighten.

No.2 Potentially a good shot but feet are lost and highlights blown out, a bit more central position in the frame would have worked better, the off to one side works well, but there is a lot of dead space above, you could have easily lost the top 1/4 of the image. To me wedding shots should be about the couple not the tree's they stood under.

No.3 Hideous PP effect added, sorry but soft focus and sepia look is very 80's, the pose looks wooden too from brides Dad? Also a whole truck of dead space too. And the couple seem to be squinting, hope you did not shoot with them facing the sun??

No.4 Nice candid, may have waited for a moment when they were closer together and composed it a little better, but as an incidental it's ok.

Sorry to be harsh, but it's how I see it nd there is no pint saying they are good images when they are not, but i think the important thing is whether the couple are happy with the shots, if they are cool everyone has different taste, art including photography is very subjective.
Just remember though that there are no second chance shots at weddings, once it's done it's done and what photo's you take are a permanent record of that couple happy day.

The registry shot is well captured, there's a lot of pressure at that moment, not least from the 'Rev'd'
I would not have got in quite so close as you need to see much more of the certificate.:rules:
Oh and remove the glinting vase :bonk:
Cheers..
PS: Call me old fashioned, but you'ld have thought the groom would have tried shaving that morning

Cheers for the feedback PapaLazarou,
I hadn't noticed the background in the first one, so cheers for pointing that out.
As I said earlier in the tread, I shot the whole day in raw so I am planning on creating a 2nd image with a lower exposure and then merging the 2 to bring back some of the dress detail. I am going to look for a tutorial today because the way I am doing it is very time consuming.
Anyone got any links?

Don't worry about "pulling me apart" I am here to learn and comments from someone with as much experience as yourself are very much appreciated

Selective Colouring - As I say, I'm not a huge fan of it myself, I think this one looks ok but it was what the bride asked for.

No 2 - I shot it like this at the brides request. It is a replica of a shot from her mom and dads wedding. I am going to fix the dress but yes, I dropped the ball on the grooms feet.

No 3 - As you say it's up to each person, it may well be "80's" but I like it. I will be showing the bride and groom both edited and natural shots so they can pick. I did have the sun in mind all day but this wasn't a posed shot, I was just about to change my lens when I saw the dad to this.

No 4 - Point taken, will wait a little longer next time.

That one was an experimental shot and got dropped anyway.

Anyway they were lepricorns and that was the just the garden wall they were stood next too!!
