I was asked to take a pic of my friends bike as a leaving presant. Very simple - he wanted an old style black and white photo "like you saw in the eighties bike mags".

Job done - I thought I would have a play....

Apart from the fact you can just see my image to the right of the bike, (stood still too long while firing the flash!) I am pretty chuffed with it. First go at trying this technique, but what do you guys think? What could I have done better? If you want to edit to show feel free but please post what you have done.

Thanks,
Chris

I love the bike.
A smaller DOF would be good but to be honest the stars are killing the images..

Ha - I knew the first suggestion would be a smaller DoF but unfortunately my little kit lens doesnt go any smaller - hence the ordering of a lovely 28-70 f2.8!

I cant decide on the stars myself - and couldnt in the photo that provided the inspiration - just wanted to try it to see if I could do it.

Only took six goes to get them pretty regular too!

Thanks for commenting,
Chris

OK - so you dont like the stars. To be honest not sure I do but I wanted to try the technique.

I havent seen this photo in a year or so but I dug it out to compare it. So apart from the obvious fact that my pic is on a much more flat plane, what makes the stars work in this image and not in mine?

Do they work in this image? Obviously I was quite taken by it else I wouldn't have remembered it.
