This was huge and very loud as it flew over my head. Unfortunately Manchester Airport decided to put the landing lights on at the end of the runway where I was. Still I hope you'll agree it is a magnificent aircraft. For the spotters out there it was Chinese National Airline, Air China.

Love that angle. Cant make my mind up about the lights, wether they add too it or not.

I like it with the lights on, and it's a great shot with that angle

When I got to the location the lights were off. Then for some reason they all came on at once, the heat coming off of them was quite something. Odd thing though as they are landing lights, visibility was excellent and they were taking off not landing on that particular runway. Sunday isn't the best day at Manchester so I was lucky to get this one. Of course you can only get shots like this between noon and 3pm when the 2nd runway is closed. If I go back again I'll definately take a longer lens. Some planes take off much earlier than the jumbo and I struggled to get any decent shots with the 70-210. Sadly I don't own anything longer so I might try and hire a 100-400 which should be a bit better. Definately recommend this location though even if it was a bit difficult to find and a 25 min walk from the car in the heat!

like the shot think the lights add to the shot
Very good photo, Airport could have been testing the lights. :)
That's a phenomenal shot! It looks like you were so close  The lights don't detract from the shot IMO :)
