The islands of Eigg and Rum from the Arisaig South Channel.
It really is a magical area.
If anyone is thinking of going to Skye this year then get there via the Mallaig/Armadale ferry and spend a night in this beautiful part of Scotland.

Many thanks guys.
Also thanks for the kind words about the Pbase galleries (and the comment, Robert).

I bracketed some shots of this scene thinking the dynamic range may require HDR work.
However, I was happy enough with this non-HDR image and so didn't need to resort to Photomatix.

Beautiful shot, wish I had been there to see it myself. The water looks amazingly calm too! How did you manage to control the low sun? ND Grad?

Craig.

EDIT - Wow, just had a look at your PBase site, all your photos are stunning! Especially like the "In the High Island" with the boat!

Nice crop. The foreground, though not at all beautiful has done a nice frame. ;)Keep it up!

It's all been said already, but just to add that I think this is stunning. Probably the best landscape capture I have seen over the last few months on this forum.

Cameron, thats a fantastic picture of a beautiful view.

Any chance you can provide an insight into taking it. For example I expect its a tripod shot, filters used? Sort of setting?

What sort of Post Processing is used?

Your shots always blow me away. They are such accurate reflections of the landscape.

Thanks Craig.
Probably a 2 stop Lee ND Grad.
Thanks also for checking out the PBase site.
I've since added an edited version of "In the High Island".

My wife and I stayed at the Ardvasar Hotel by Armadale for 3 nights last October.
Very nice and Sleat is a lovely region of Skye.
If you like walking there's a pleasant walk to a small white sandy beach near the Point of Sleat.
When we arrived there wasn't a footprint in the sand.

From EXIF and memory
Canon EOS 40D
1/20s f/16.0 at 17.0mm iso100
Tripod, MLU, cable release, 2 stop Lee filter.
Processed from RAW in PS CS3.
No special settings just basic processing (levels, curves etc)
Quick mask, Grad tool and Lighten in curves to bring out some detail from the rocks.

Yeh, I see you removed the rope attached to the boat in the edit. Think you would have got away with it if you were a wee bit further back and could see the other end of it? (refering to 'In the High Island 2' of course).
