Here's a shot from a recent boat trip off the Llyn peninsula in North Wales. Certainly not my usual type of photography & from many shots this was about the best I managed...

I'd welcome a few tips from wildlife shooters as to how to catch perfect shots of birds inflight etc - this were taken using the following settings..

autofocus / in camera Stabilisation ON -- other info is in the EXIF (55-300mm lens @300mm / Samsung GX10)

I've had very little practice with panning shots such as these, all tips appreciated

Thats an excellent shot.

Only beef is that the bird should have more space in front of it rather then behind it.

Lovely shot :agree:with BB regarding space for the bird to fly into

Lovely clear shot with good colours, but I must agree with the comments above about the space for the puffin to fly into.

Thanks all for the feedback - the "space" issue is easily resolved fortunately, this is a crop from the original raw where there's a bit more space available - I'll re-crop it !!

[edit] - re-cropped image now posted !!

Hmm! don't think I'll manage one that good but am off to South Stacks in Anglesey this weekend and will hopefully see some to photograph :)

Thanks everyone,

quite pleased with the shot but I think with improved technique it could have been sharper...

This trip was from Pwllheli, run by "Shearwater" - perhaps a bit expensive but worth it, saw a couple of dolphins briefly on the way back too, too briefly to grab a shot though

Nev,

I think those puffins on South Stack can be a bit tricky to catch, good luck & look forward to your shots
