Well, my long term girlfriends. I know the pics aren't the best - I'm just starting out.

Here's part of the park where we was:

Aren't dogs meant to chase the ball?

That's better:

I will continue to add to this thread over the coming months, I hope to seen an improvement with the pictures as I get used to the 400D and all of the settings.

I like the last one best - for me, most of the others seem to have too little subject matter.

Please explain, I am a newb to this. Do you mean that there's not enough of the dog in the photo? If yes, then yes I agree; it's hard getting good close up shots of him as he's always so far away and I'm limited to 55mm max zoom (EOS 18-55 lens). I would buy a new lens but I want to learn how to use my current one to it's max potential before I spend money on something that will simply give me more zoom then now.

Most animal shots will look better by getting down to their eye level as in the last shot.

The last shot also has a bit of a blue tint going on there as well.

Agree with hypnotic, eye level shots give best results.

Here is a few shots of my dog, Misty.

Hope this helps, and practice makes perfect.

Thanks chaps. I've only had the camera for a couple of weeks and this is the first time I've took it out on a walk with the dog. I'm very eager to learn and I'm doing lots of research. Hopefully you'll all see (and me) an improvement as time goes on and I start to learn of of the camera and lens' abilities.

All comments will be taken on board and I certainly don't mind a bit of critisism - how else would I learn!

WRT to the blue tint comment; is that good or bad?
