Seeing Lady P's great shots from yesterday (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=66148) inspired me to search harder for some poppies of my own, so I looked all over last night, to no avail :(.

The torrential rain we then had overnight flooded my normal route into work, and so I had to find an alternative this morning...and as luck would have it, I spied a specimen or two on the verge. Hopping out of the passenger side, and braving the confused looks from passing drivers, I snapped a few frames when the sun peeked through briefly, and this is the best of them.

Lovely colour and composition Mark, enhanced by the leftmost spot of read in the background strangely enough

I appreciate that, John - thank you. I liked the balance that the two OOF flowers gave to the main subject, so decided not to crop them...looks like a good decision :)

Great composition, the diagonal lines running through the shot really work well

That's a good poppy shot!

I took a detour on the way home last night and got some too, I'll try to get some posted over the weekend.

Lovely, vibrant colours and I like the diagonals of the stems behind :) Great texture on the petals too
