Treated myself to an upgrade today :D

Had a budget of £1000 and had been considering a D300 body, but this would have meant me having to wait a while before I could get a lens that would suit my passion for wildlife.

I ended up buying a D80 along with a Sigma 170-500.
Only had a chance to get a few shots off in pretty poor light, but I'm already pretty excited by what this new combo might be capable of....

Not the greatest shots, but I'm happy with them for the first attempts and in poor light.
Can't wait for tomorrow, so I can spend some time getting to grips with my new babies.

:)Thanks mate.

I used a rickety 30 year old cheapo tripod (last ever outing I think) and no cable release.
A decent tripod is next on the list.
Will most likely get out my trusty monopod tomorrow!

Had a try with the monopod this morning and it's certainly better than the old tripod...

Thanks mate.

Narrow DOF, background was bushes in the shade.
Pretty dark, so ISO 800.
