School here is a different thing to the way it is in the UK - kids hug and kiss the teachers, rush up to chat with them when they meet in the village and most kids run to school in the mornings.
Yesterday was the end-of-term fiesta at school, and one of the best teachers announced that she was leaving.
I was caught short, as I was just focusing on Billie when the announcement was made, and a second later she was in tears, as were most of the school, and I was on consoling duty..
I'll process and post some more pictures later...

Lovely set of photos.
It's the same in Galicia. The kids call the teachers by their first names and there is genuine affection between the teachers and the children. I have taught English classes in Ortugeira and the kids were wonderful. My wife taught in Kirkby new town where there was a declared state of war between the teachers and the children.

Lovely set of photos - the end of school event looks as if it was fun (until the tears) and certainly gave good photo opportunities.
Billie has the most expressive eyes! And I love the looks on the boys faces too.
another excellent set of pics, Steve
all the better for the story behind

Not sure at my husbands school here in Andalucia that the kids run into school, but they certainly dont bunk off!! The pupils there call the teachers by their first names too... My husband is known as Mr Andy!!
Lovely pics.. First one is so sweet x
