Yesterday saw a stunning game of polo for the final of the Queen's Cup at Guards Polo Club in Windsor. Top class polo is just brilliant to watch - so fast and ferocious. I really recommend it. Ellerston won 10-9 - really close game.

Anyway, your correspondent for the day provides the following snippets to enjoy. All action shots taken with my Sigma 100-300...

#1 - my fave of the day - great light and colour.

#2 - James Packer from Ellerston. I'd guess he's Kerry Packer's son? There's a definite resemblance there.

#3 - This is called "riding off" where you basically shove the other guy out of the way. The ball doesn't have to be anywhere near.

#4 - I took the liberty of scrambling up the TV gantry for this one. Quite a few other 'togs there, but only about 10 covering the polo - the rest were looking for celebs.

#5 Go!!!!

#6 This one is lacking in technical excellent but I think the horse about to topple over is amusing. Shame the focus is on the horse behind.

#7 Winners...

Loving that first one as well. Two ponies with all four feet off the ground at the same time in the same photo has got to be a 1 in a rather large number shot :)

Some good shots there with #1 being my favourite although it appears a bit dark. Like the one of the Queen!

Good shots, can't really pick a favourite.

I prefer #5 as you can see all the subject. Could do with being a bit closer. There's bit of stick missing in #1 and some of the others. Now I do know how hard it is to get the shot, so I'm being picky.

Crikey! High standards there. I'll try and do better next time, or instruct the riders to come closer and keep their sticks lower .
