Hey Folks,

Some of you may have seen that there is a new search engine on ebay, and it is pretty rubish!

If you have been 'selected' for this you can opt out and go back the the good old way!

Select 'opt out' on the link below:

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/

I've been looking for a few things today and cursing it. Didn't realise it was just a test though.

I also dislike the new search, but the worst thing about it is that the sort by price+P&P has vanished in the new search. Fortunately, it is still there with the old search.

When P&P can sometimes cost more than the item itself it is a pretty significant element of the total price. Why on earth they removed it from the sort options I'll never know.

It is still there on the new one, just slightly more to the left, and when you hover over it the list of options appears.
Must admit it took me a few mins to find it.

We seem to be seeing different things, then, because here are screen prints from the sort options from the old search and the new search. The new search does not allow sorting by price+p&p.

It's easy to opt back in, but I can't see much point. There is a link near the top right of the search results screen....

In 4 weeks time there won't be an opt out, we'll have to use the new search engine, it's geared up to make searching for 2nd hand items difficult, ebay makes most of it's money from the trade sellers with high volume sales so it's new search engine will give them higher placings in the search results.

Ebay is just really greedy now, the fees are extortionate given the volume of sales, they must be making billions every year, even the new feedback system is a joke, this guy had 5 positive feedbacks so if he was bidding on your auction you'd think he was OK but reading the comments tells a different story, he hadn't paid for any of the items.

some writtenswearing in the feedback link below

I have to agree with you here, ebay is getting so so greedy its unbelievable. A good friend of mine has used ebay for a number of years now for his business and although he does quite well on sales, whatever small margin is left can be quite easily swallowed up by the fees incurred using ebay and paypal.

Whenever I want to sell things now I will try my best to see if I can sell it local rather than use ebay, simply to avoid the fees, which are near to 10% of the amount you sell for. And the new feedback system helps out who exactly? Might as well remove the feedback altogether if you cannot give negative feedback to someone...total joke!!

I don't think eBay's cookies are playing nicely with IE7, which is why I keep having to sign in over and over again, and keep losing settings. I've tried to allow them always in IE7 but there is one persistent little toerag (cookie) that refuses to stay put.

Opt out as disappeared from the new search page, bugger. Can we sue?
Just put a complaint in, that's me banned.

Hi

If anyone here is struggling with eBay's new search layout there is an online petition asking eBay to keep the old search as an option. Please sign it if you agree with this as the more members sign it the more chance eBay will listen.

Hi,

on mine I had to remove the cookie for eBay as it was doing the same to me, since removing it and letting it put a new one after opting out it's been fine.

Mike.

Please tell me how to remove the cookie for ebay, this new search menu gives me a knot in my stomach it is useless, I liked to click on the list for newly listed, those nearest to me, ending soonest, etc. why oh why did they have to change the ****** thing, puts me right off looking for things :bang::bang::bang:

wack61

They changed it so it finds more new items as most of their money is generated from new sales
