Can anyone say where in London is the housing estate / council flats / concrete monstrosity that seems to be a popular shooting location for films and shows like the Bill.

It's either built in a long straight or on slight curve (I'm looking for it on Google Earth).

It's not a common design and it's probably 60's / 70's architect built and is now probably listed. It has access along the centre behind the next block and the levels get progressively higher upto about four floors.

If I had to guess where it was I'd say around Lewisham area.

If anyone knows what I'm on about I'd love to find it on GE!

Do you mean the one that is sort of layered? with each floor set back from the one below, sort of like a small pyramid type thing? If so then I have seen a few of them around London :(

You might be lucky with something like this imdb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084987/) it has some location detail in it!

I've looked at IMDB but it's too vague.

And it's not the one from Clockwork Orange, which was in Thamesmead...

Try looking here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bill#Setting) for some ideas....

If thats the one, its about a five minute drive from where I am currently sat at work. I have seen it and yes, it looks like the one I vaguely recall from an episode of the Bill quite a few years ago when they were doing house to house enquiries about a hand found in bin bags, that of course turned out to be med students messing around. Not seen the Bill for years but it would make sense to be in that area as there are several TV/filming companies based in and around Camden

I can't believe they think it's worthy of repeating more than once!!!

I know the one you mean, it's in the Holloway area (I think it's close to the prison) as I used to work round there but for the life of me I can't remember what it is called - it's 20 years since I've been there.

This is probably odd trying to describe a vague place with vague clues but please keep trying...

You tried using Microsofts Virtual Earth with Bird Eye view, helps spotting places as it isn't just a top down view.

http://local.live.com/ (web version - there is a software version like Google Earth)

Yeah I opened up live earth to check out what Hacker had suggested cos there is a slightly wavy and long looking building right next to the prison, birds eye view confirmed that it wasn't what I was looking for!

I've tried google searches too but I don't even know what to search for. It must be a famous place because it's so unique looking. It could even be a block of flats on it's side!

In fact it's kind of like the British Museum (?) but it isn't this place itself...

Wow - touchy! It's hardly off topic, he is talking about a shooting location for a TV program, as you are in your OP. ("Popular London filming location? ").

It's completely off topic, he and you have clearly totally missed the point of my question.
