A pile of firewood from today is it any good

Is it any good? Only if it's dry because it's a bugger to light when damp! Seriously though it's not my cup of tea it looks a bit flat and could do with a bit more contrast also some of the highlights are burnt out.

thanks for looking Ill re shoot it or have a play with a curves layer in CS3 that should sort it

Like this Dave as Alby said it's a nice abstract. Had a go at another edit hope you don't mind. It seemed a little flat with the lovely textures and colours needing to be brought out.

No I dont mind its good to see how others see things, I like as you say the textures and colours have come out :thumbs:
Albi not so sure about your treatment, although it looks like some sort of crazy paving now,it does have something about it, I dont know, mmm :thumbs:

I think it would suit being mono with the detail and contrast pulled out some more.

If you play around with the settings you should be able to get some great detail in the wood in mono, all the grain etc.

Contrast masking
Convert B&W
Levels - middle slider > right
Contrast ^
Sharpen with High pass filter
