Hi All

What would you do

Having thought carefully about which memory card reader to buy i'd narrowed it down to one option. But then should i get USB2.0 or Firewire:shrug:
In the end i plumped for the USB2.0 i figured i could wait the extra time for downloading rather than spending the extra £40.

Fast forward to delivery, open parcel....., Inside....., one Firewire Memory card reader:eek:,Checked invoice:rules:, Charged for USB2.0:woot:.

So over to you, Should i contact them and point out their mistake?

Regards

Not a chance! no way any of my customers would! keep it and in the unlikely even they contact you, plead ignorance. i know it sounds harsh but i used to be very honest but found it never got me anywhere! does that make me a bad person?

Point it out to them, they will have their faith restored in humanity and it will be cheaper for them to leave it with you than to get it collected, it may flag up an issue with their dispatch dept that could save them alot of money, I doubt they will want it back if you are happy to keep it !

I reckon they will just tell you to hang on to it anyway (if they're a half decent company!) And you'd feel better.

For me it depends if the company have caused me problems before. I ordered a keyboard from play.com they sent me a slightly better model (£12 more) but charged me for the basic one. I would normally have sent it back, but they had just arsed me about with Chrimbo presents so I thought sod it!

Looks like you got a free upgrade. Keep the reader and keep Mum.
Everyones a winner, your happy and you will use them again and you will obviously recommend them, so they get even more custom.

I'm sorry, but the thread title promised a dilema and then failed to deliver. :naughty:

If it's a big company, keep it and say nothing. All big companies would budget for such errors and this gets reflected in the price you pay for any goods you buy.

If it's a small company, then such losses are harder on them, and yes you should call them.

This has happened to me before, and it honestly never occured to me to try to return the item. They're a company, not your mate, and it was them that screwed up.

DOH!!!

In this case honesty wasn't the best policy.

They(Warehouse Express) offered to send the correct reader and for me to send the Firewire version back. To which i replied i'm happy to keep it as i've got a FW connetion on my computer.

" So Sir will we just charge your mastercard with the difference?"

"Err.No"

"So you want the USB2.0 one then."

"No,In view of my honesty surely we could just accept your mistake and forget about the extra."

"the difference is £33 I'll just charge you £30"

"" £20 sounds better to me"

" Ok "

Remind me not to listen to you lot again:sulk:;)

Bit late now, but I agree with that.

My initial thought was to keep quiet, but i thought like Albedo and dseered that if i came clean they'd just let me keep it.

Oh well you live and learn.

But it has to be said their delivery times need a mention,

I ordered the reader at 3PM on friday and it was with me the next day(although it was taken back to my local post office cause i wasn't in).

Next day to the North of Scotland is pretty impressive when you consider some companies charge me extra for "remote areas".

So 10/10 for Delivery:clap:

0/10 for keeping a tight Scotsman happy:baby:

Ah, see, look what you`ve done now, I wont be using them now, its cost you £20 and they have lost my business too. ;)
Another tight Scot
Anyway, I am sure honesty is the best policy, in the long run......
