I would agree with you. The first one has better focus even with the slight DoF that appears at the centre. The second one suffers from not being the whole flower in shot. The DoF on the third one doesn't work for me. Others may disagree.

I like the first and last G, the second isn't great from a composition point of view due to the vacant area in the lower right corner. I think a little more contrast would just perk them up a little too, although it a tough one with red. ;)

No1 nice composition and lighting but dof looks too shallow.

No2 lighting is too harsh and not too sure about the composition.

No 3 is lovely. Good dof imo and I like the lighting :thumbs:

Thanks. Yes, I am finding macro incredibly difficult and getting the colour right was terrible with this flower. I shot without flash, using just a sidelamp pointed down at it from above. The flower was taped to the back of my DVD shelving lol, which is black. Just very difficult.
