View Full Version : How many camera clicks?
I've had a d60 since April 1st and....
Total Number of Shutter Releases for Camera: 6650
Is this a bit high for the amount of time, or is it about right :suspect:
How many shutter releases have you guys got?

Hi there - far too many to admit to - especially if we discussed the ratio of keepers to takers. But my camera count did change when I put in a previously used card - the camera is a Canon and I understand that it sometimes picks up the numbering off a used card.
Just over 3000 in just under 2 months!

Do you use flickr?
Not yet although I did register last week. Haven't got round to uploading photos yet.
Ok, either upload a photo there then click on "More Details" on the Exif date, and it'll show you there (Providing the picture hasnt been through photoshop)

You bought your camera on April 1st, are you not asking for trouble?!?
I usually take anywhere from 500 to 1500 photos in one day when I go to Brands Hatch or other motorsport track. No idea on total for the camera though.
As long as you're enjoying the journey, you can never be taking too many pictures. Just shoot to your heart's desire and enjoy it.
That aside, I'd say you've been very trigger-happy with your toy; not that it's a bad thing ;)
I've had mine since 5th May. 13500 ish, but it's all motorsport or equestrian :exit:

Can you imagine the cost if that was film, lol.
My D200 is currently at 12700, was at 11000 when i got it a month ago.

Thank god for digital.
That would have cost you about £350 for the film alone. Processing a similar amount I suspect.
and you'd still be waiting for half the results too.
Lets all rejoice in the day they invented the pixel.
:-)
about 100.
but I only got it this afternoon ;)

The fact is that we just wouldn't have taken so many pics.
Digital has changed our attitude and method of photography more than we credit I think.
I used to use say 4 or 5 rolls of 36 on a day out shooting and now I easily fill 2 x 2gb cards in a morning. Is that a good thing I wonder?

:agree:
It seems there was a lot more thought put into taking pictures back in the days of film! Also, because of the no-processing costs now, people are more inclined to be daring and "try" something new.
The change from film to digital is a leap, and a giant leap I'd say

That's certainly true for me. I am far more experimental now than ever. And I have to say that I'm enjoying my photography more than ever too.
One thing I would say though, is that I tried for a while not to blast digital photos off willy nilly because I felt it was some how more skillfull not to. My daughter (she of a 350D) has never really used film and has always been what I saw as completely wreckless with frames. Now I can't work out what I was thinking. I've joined my daughter and I just click away and delete the rubish.
Still not sure it's a good thing though.

About £20 in bulk film. It would be the two 30m reels either side of the camera body that would be the real pain!

Those of you that take a large amount of photos in a day or a week (1000 plus) how long does it take you to sort through all that lot and workout what you are keeping?
I just went away for a week in Dorset and thought my 300 total was alot, wish I had taken more now

We covered three main events at the weekend, - 9 actual races. I spent all day Monday (7am to 10pm) sorting and uploading around 2500 ish photos into 28 separate pages/galleries - busy weekend...
i havent looked at all of mine from Donington yet, i will sort through them at some point and add more to my site etc, i would say i spent 3 hours so far looking through and sorting 130-140 pics
Blimey, I've barely scraped 3k in 3 years on my D50.
Something to be said for old-school techniques, or just lazy?

We had just short of 10,000 at Burgie over the four days. Took three days to go through them and process them onto the webby.
Roughly 3700 in the past 2 months, mostly rubbish but a lot of good ones :D
