Nice set
Clean and sharp and nice to see you getting a sort of shot from behind. And the small wheelie is a bonus too

Cheers mate.
For some reason they dont seem to bright or sharp on here? Possibly because they have gone through photobucket?

Cheers Matt
These look well exposed and nice and sharp.
My only critique would be that the bikes are a little central in the frame, so for example in #2 you've lost a lot of dust trail behind the bike and/or less space for the rider to move into.
I'm also a firm believer that motocross air shots generally benefit from at least some ground showing. This adds a sense of height and scale. #1 works in that respect, but #3 doesn't.
Always good to see some more MX pics.

Why do people say getting a shot from behind is difficult? I have seen several people say this on here with regard to MX...
Surely a jump shot is harder head on - you can't see the bike until its airborne and the lines they all take over each jump are quite radically different, making it very tricky to catch with a comparitively narrow field of view compared to the width of the jump.
An "ar*e shot" is easier because you can track the bike into the jump and into the air surely?
I have less rear shots than front simply because I find the head on view more interesting than a blokes bum :)

Gribbsy- Thanks for your comments, Have to say I agree having some land in the shot for perspective. Number 1 doesn’t actually have that either- What you may think is land is actually a bank in the distance which slightly spoils it for me. With number 1 I didn’t have the range to get back any further (was taken with a 28-300mm) as I was stood on the top of the jump as they flew 2-3 ft in front of me. Few points I will take on board so cheers. I quite often shoot too close a crop-Think ill have to try and stop myself!!
Deantnik- Not sure why its more difficult to get a good rear shot (may just be me?). Think it may be as you have less chance, were as head on you seem to get a little more time? Also like you say a front view can be more pleasing and tends to be easier to get a good shot and rear shots can look a bit boring. I have quite a lot of people requesting shots from the back, especially those who have their shirts printed with their name and number on ect.
With regards to it being harder to get the head on shots-Its not something I tend to struggle with myself (although can see why people would) as I tend to listen to bikes aproching and depending on the engine note you can often tell if they have used an inside or outside line out of the previous corner (sounds a bit geeky/anal but seems to work for me). Also if you can see another part of the track (like the loop before they get to you) you can normally tell the ability of a rider and therefore know what the most likely line they would take-Doesn’t always work, but gives a good idea.
Admirable- Cheers, I like tat shot too. Looks quite soft to me on here for some reason though. The original is sharper-May just be as its gone through photobucket-Don’t know.
Thanks for all your comments though. Its been so manic recently iv not had a chance to go through what ive taken, but will post some more soon (that’s if you want to see them of course!!)
Andy
