As stated 2 flys and a green thing. No idea what any of them are really, but would be interested to find out. Anyway they were all enjoying a good feast on hemlock/cow parsley (I can never tell the difference between these either).

it looks like a green tiger beetle to me, i could be very wrong mind :)

The green thing is a male Oedemera nobilis #1 is a flesh fly and #2 a hover fly but not sure what one. Great shots Paul :thumbs:

Great shots the fly's are going nuts on the white stuff (technical term) around here at the moment but theres that many attacking each other they wont stay
still long enough for a pic

Your Green thing is absolutely stunning ... :love: ... That colour has to be one of the best Greens ... :D ... I did know its proper name but have clean forgot ... :shrug:

"Flesh fly" sounds distinctly creepy. Shudder. Wonder if it deserves the name or not?

Setup .... is quite simple:

Me + 40D + 105 Sigma macro + sunshine + flowers and bugs. All handheld.

Taken at 400-500 ISO f5.6-f9. More details in the EXIF.
