I am new to photography and would like some help on a few of my photos to highlight any areas that could do with improvement,

Thanks Chad

Hi there and welcome to this most addictive hobby. I'm no expert but the first one I think is bit over saturated?
Also, you may get more feedback if you post your pics to show on here rather than a link. Lots of us just dib in and out of the site and tend not to follow links.
Good luck

You need to show a smaller version as the site limit is 800 pixels.... so I have to turn them back into links.

The first one is a nice scene with a subject your eye is led to. The intense unnatural colours (high saturation mentioned above) make it look a bit strange. You don't have the box ticked in your profile to allow editing so people can't edit it and show you a version at the moment ;)

Second one is much better on the colour front but the subject is a bit too central in the shot and lacks foreground interest.

Nice composition on the first one. (Bridgewater Canal?)

As others have said, the colours are over saturated. What software are you using?

I can't tell what camera you're using or what the settings were, but it looks to me like you allowed the camera to choose the focus point for you. This has resulted in the foreground boat being a little soft. A smaller aperture (ie a larger number) say f/16 would give you more overall sharpness - what is referred to as dewpth of field.

The second one does nothing for me I'm afraid...

onwards and upwards :)
