Number 1 doesnt do much for me but i do like number 2 alot, leads your eye nicely down the river

No1 doesn't seem to have a focal point.
No2 is lovely with the boats and the bank leading you nicely along the river :thumbs:

As said number 2 leads you very nicely down the river, in number one i think the boat int eh FG is distracting from rather than adding to the pic, and a slight crop from the RHS would make the trees less central.

Cheers, looking at no1 I do see what you are saying.
Composition is not my greatest forte, a lot of the time I take a pic view it in camera screen, then ask myself what I took that for:thinking:.
I am not the artistic type and sometimes struggle looking for a shot, on the day there was someone else taking pics on the canal and she was shooting away with this huge lens, she stopped and took a close up pic of a dog with a ball in its mouth a great pic no doubt, but I just did not spot the shot.

Cheers, looking at no1 I do see what you are saying.

I love number 2, nice lines, nice peaceful scene. I would have framed no 1 differently and maybe made the foreground boat the focus, or cropped some of it out.
