This was taken on my flight on Tuesday morning (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=68482) and is near Nethy Bridge in the Cairngorm National Park. This image is definitely one where they idea that nature might win back against man's domination of the land.

Gary, Cracking shot as usual :)

May I ask, you must be fairly limited in what kit you can take up with you? What lens do you consider you use the most when in flight?

Thank you.

I fly with my trusty EF 28-70mm f2.8L. Wider is difficult as you always catch your legs/feet in shot. Longer is a different story. I would like to try a 24-105 f4 L to see if this would help but do not want to spend the money unnecessarily - and somehow nobody seems keen to lend me one.

Haha :D Only reason I ask, is that I'm considering a balloon ride and was wondering on the best lens to take.

I'll prob end up taking the 17-55 and sneaking the 10-20 on in a pocket or something :D .... and some ND grads, cpl, batteries... d'oh!

There is as much going on inside a balloon as outside so would def take wide angle. Once above 1,000ft I really could do with a longer lens at times as some details on the ground cry out to be caught but my 70mm won't quite reach. Tough decision but if it is only one lens then the 17-55 is the one to take.

Famous aerial tog Bertrand (who used helicopters) was mostly on a 70-200.

Remember to keep the shutter speed up high as you would be surprised as the movement even in a balloon.

And share the pics!!!! :D

I don't like heights and it's making me feel queasy just looking at it. Good shot though and I tip my cap to you for having the guts to jump out of a plane ;)

Good aerial photography, loads of shapes and textures here.
