Morning all,

I was down at Fairy Glen yesterday, where apart from busting my knee falling down, and getting soaked in the river, I managed to take the first panorama i've been truly happy with.

My 10-20mm is at sigma being repaired atm so had to make do with 18mm, once I get my wide back I'll return at daybreak to try again, but i'm quite happy with how it turned out.

Nice shot. Bad news though, a friend of mine had a lens at sigma, which took 2 month to be repaired. Hope yours is quicker.

I was there last year :) really nice and I can see that it would be a calm place to visit but there was tons of water roaring past when I was there and I because of the high water I couldn't get as far over as I'd have liked (slippery when wet!), the water was upto the bottom of the path! here's my effort from then:

like the panoramic view though, works well :D

That's a lovely pic shiato. The light was a little flat when I was there so definitley going to have to revisit. I bet you could spend hours just in the same spot taking so many different photo's. Going to head back down there once my wide gets back anyway (and take some wellies :p).

cheers, can't wait to see what you get next time. i noticed a postcard at the entrance to the path, on the noticeboard under a little roof by the gate, before we walked down there - it looked really low and slow moving water...bit of a surprise when we got there. I guess with these narrow slots it doesnt take much to fill them up reasonably quick with just a little rain.

really nice in every way apart from the fact it look slike two good pictures merged to make an ok one...my eye hits the big rock then has to go left or right to see the pic - confuses my stupid brain.

Very nicely done, not an easy scene to catch just right I guess but you've done a good job

Cool. sorry for the newb question. but how do you do these?? Is it as simple as mounting the camera on the tripod and take photos as you rotate it?? I tried something like this before but found the lighting between each photo different from each other.

Stunning shot - really needs to be seen as big as poss! I love the placidity of the water and the light's perfect.

Thanks all. Glad you like it, although nice I think in morning or late day light it could be better, especially once I get my 10-20mm back, although tbh, am tempted to take a 6 shot panorama (2 up, 3 accross) of the same place with my 18mm, as seems i'll be waiting al little longer for sigma to repair my wide :(

@ep82, yep basically that's it, you setup the camera then just pan it, take another, repeat for as many as you want. Then there are loads of various packages you can use to stitch them together and i'm sure everyone has their opinions on the best. I just used CS2's built-in photomerge feature, but am sure there are better ways as i lost a lot of the image at the top + bottom when I did it.
