It's kinda an alternative to extension tubes.
If you have a 100mm macro lens and want to get closer to the "action" and have, say a nifty 50 (50mm f1.8) you can tape the nifty on the front of the macro lens, backwards way around (contacts facing towards the object) and focus REALLY closely on the action.
It works really well.
Wow! Thats one helluva shot! I Await the TP versions....please :D
We all aspire to Alby...............Alby will aspire to this!! :D

Hi Paul
Forgive me but :amstupid: Do you mean literally 'tape the nifty on'? or is there some kind of adaptor available?

You can get a dedicated reversing ring made for purpose ... http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/_W0QQ_nkwZreversingQ20ringQQ_fromZR40QQ_mdoZ
But that is a stunning image, if i only knew what it was

Thanks Gary
But that's not the same thing as reversing a lens on a lens :) these adaptors reverse mount the lens directly to the camera!

Thanks Janice but these aren't that difficult to shoot. You need to be able to get up early and find a roosting dragonfly that's the hard bit and if it's a dewy morning they are normally covered in dew too. They are too cold to fly so shooting is made easy. I might have a go if I can get up and the morning are dewy enough this weekend ;) I seen quite a lot of these shots on the net and often thought about shooting some dragonflies, guess I will have to now

Wow, that is truly impressive! Is it just dew on the bug? I don't even know how you'd go about finding a bug even to take the photo of!
Take a look at this guys' work:

I think you need to be a member to view the larger shots but they are stunning and not just the macro shots either.
