Well with those fences at Silverstone, we had no intentions of spending the entire day panning away trackside, especially as we were a bit short on a lens that pushed past 200mm, so a wonder round the pits and paddocks was in order. Hope you like, I know Mr LL, Adam and I did.

Lovely shots. As most people know I am a big fan of these sort of shots.

:bang: what, you wanna see all those shots I have processed ever so carefully due to the sodding fences?

maybe later

Thanks Matt, I thought you might like them ;)

Some really nice detail shots. #1 is my pick, although it looks like it's not quite straight-on.

It wasn't, I grabbed it after sneaking behind a screen before they turfed me out so I have straightened as much as possible, but its not absolutely head on I admit

Were the pits freely accessable then? I'm seeing quite a few pit shots on Flickr and and on other forums.

Now those are really good and interesting test day shots. It's nice to go and shoot some on track stuff and I've done it like everyone else and had a great day but lets face it...... it's dull as paint drying to see endless panned shots of F1 cars at Slippystone.

I like those! Much more interesting than the whole car shots :D

I gave up watching F1 years ago... this year's ridiculous Batmobile cars are well... ridiculous!

THanks Guys. Got some full car shots and stuff from the pit area, but my on track stuff is mainly rubbish because of those fences and not being able to get close enough to a fence to completely blur it out, so will post a few more tomorrow of pit/paddock bits and pieces. Oh yes, got a shot of Steve Ryder if anyone requires new dart board material ;)

as for access, no its not open to all, but I am a club member so had access from lunchtime onwards.

Great to see some F1 shots where scratches, dents and dirt are a feature. You can get to thinking that dirt does not exist in F1 from some coverage.

I have NEVER seen a F1 car in action up close :( My brother follows team Maclaren around the world and has even been to the Oz GP. I should make more of an effort.

You are more than welcome and as usual were very good company - now your shots are up I am out of here :(

I have processed about 3 track shots and given up, they are utter rubbish!

Will be seeing more McLarens this weekend, but I am not sure I could follow F1 that closely! If you get a chance to go to GP Gary, go - don't expect to see too much by way of racing apart from the bit of track you are stood by, but DO marvel at how much the TV cameras slow the cars down. IN life they are bloody quick, bloody noisy and make the hair on your neck stand up! :D

These are so cool Yvonne ... ... as Gary says it is great to see F1 from a different perspective ... :suspect: ... we always get the impression from screen they are oh so immaculately turned out but it's good to see the first has nearly as many stone chips as my motor ...

Personally I think going to these events is not about the pictures or the actual event because, as you rightly point out, you do not get to see much of the action ... ... it is about the sights, smells and above all that ear shattering, spine tingling, goose bumping and hair raising noise experience only F1 can generate ...

And your pics together with Adam's certainly stir up just that kind of emotion ...

I was at Silverstone this Wed and Thurs. Had a great time, got a good few shots where the fences haven't got in the way (300mm +1.4x TC)! I'll post them up soon. As for pit lane access: how did you guys get down there, we tried to cross the bridge - but our general admission tickets didnt allow us.

More on topic: Sweet, sweet photos btw!
