Tian Tan Buddha, HK. Not sure about the place but the scenary is stunning.

One of the first shots with the little canon kit lens. Some weird things going on with the hills I've tried to work out, but can't. Needs a bit of work there I think.

Nice picture...but, you're right, there is something odd going on with the mountains (or the sky...or both.) Nice color and composition.

cheers...it was very hazy, I have a feeling there is a mountain in the background and it was casting a bit of a shadow on the other hills...dunno though.

Give the " fat bloke " some credit; he made it didn't he :D

The weird effect is caused by shooting into the sun. Put it into your CS3 editor, turn the brightness right up and then right down and you'll see what I mean. Over exposing by setting the exposure compensation to +0.67 has also 'enhanced' the effect.

Other than that, I like it

Nice composition and picture.

Thanks for the puzzle :)

Apart from the mountain oddity this is one lovely, tranquil shot! And composition is really nice imho!

I love the right-hand side of the image,it's superb, nice crisp silhouette and so peaceful and tranquil. Nice pastel colours in the sky too, but as others have pointed out, the left hand side mountain just looks odd.

That is a BEAUTIFUL silhouette-type shot, marred by (as already had been pointed out) by that odd shading in the sky. Could it be refraction back onto the lens caused by the huge contrast of that stunning skyscape against the dark mountain? Mind you, you could clone out that little bit that's on the mountain to the far left of the image and then easily pass off the part across the sky as a distant mountain just barely visible in the haze. :)
Either or, I love the picture itself. An excellent capture.

Ta....one thing I don't like to do is fiddle too much with the scene...this year I'll go back and spend a bit more time around the area and figure out what's going on. It was a snap shot on my first outing with a slr. Really needs a bit more thought to get the best out of it.
