C & C welcome. :)
It's abstract in that it's an abstracted detail from an electric fence, but not abstract enough so I don't know what it is, if you catch my exhausted drift?
I think with this type of shot it needs some really strong form, structure, texture or colour to make it work and jump out of the page making you go 'wow that crazy or beautiful or weird'
hth?

Thanks for your input!
The picture is of an electrical cable from a bungalow (out of frame to the left) going to a garage.
From a personal level i liked the contrast of the shiny brown attachment with the garage that is past it's best.
I'm very much an amatuer so could you explain your phrases or give me links to help me understand?
Thanks for not totally ripping it to shreds. :)

I had a similar attempt at this sort of thing but the images were lacking what Gandih describes so I binned them.
Thanks for your input!
No worries

My mistake! Presumptious me at the best of times.

Then thats what you needed to concentrate on. Perhaps by getting closer and filling the frame with just the insulator and the wood of the garage?

Which ones? Sorry, I can be a bit long winded sometimes. I'm strictly an amateur when it comes to abstracts too. But I know what appeals to me in an abstract photo. Have a google for abstract photo's and such like. There will be plenty of tips and examples. Find some shots you admire, think about what you like about them and then try and get that into your shots maybe. Don't copy but take some inspiration!

I thought I was being quite harsh for me lol ;)
I can't stand it when people have opinions, especially negative ones and then don't have the balls/brains/ability to back them up. If you're gonna try and help people you have to be constructive with your criticism. It's one of the good things about this place. There are very few idiots here!
Some good ones here btw......LINKY (http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/dynoGall2.asp?catID=19&pageID=1&rows=12&contestCatID=&camID=)
And some I wouldn't call abstract either mind you!
