hello
I'm a student at college and i'm thinking of buying some lights or light depending on price for me to use.
I'm new to all of this and would like some help. I'm looking for a basic stand and light and was wondering where abouts should i look? and what i should be looking for e.g bulb height ....
thanks

And what sort of photography do you plan to use it for?

I'm not to sure but i think i should start off small like a spot light for objects i guess.
are we to assume you plan on shooting just objects rather than people? If so, your basic setup could be as simple as a light tent and a couple of cheap spots. Not sure what you mean by bulb height as a bulb can be as high as you position it. Did you mean wattage or output?
Please help us to help you by defining some of the basics. The more info you give us the more we can help you :)

A cheap light tent from Ebay and a desk lamp would start you off, but it really depends on your budget and how you see your kit expanding in the future....

thanks for your help
Sorry for not be more specific :( I wanted to know how much watt looks natural and what would get the most effects? i meant by height in how tall should the stand be? But i guess it can be as high or low as i want.
I do take more object photos than people so i think a light tent will be my best option.
Thanks
Hi Lou,
I used a light tent, a halogen desk lamp on one side and a lamp with a daylight bulb on the other side to get these shots. A fairly inexpensive setup. :)
