View Full Version : Lewis Hamilton Drives....Brooklands [56k!!]
Well, Mr LL, the karate brat and I all headed over to Weybridge in Surrey today to the Brooklands Festival of Motoring. A joint event between the famous old circuit and Mercedes Benz World next door, it was a bit like a mini Goodwood, without the crowds. I got plenty of lovely pics of some very classic machinery climbing the test hill and so on, but thought I would start with these as the British GP is almost upon us.
Lewis Hamilton was in attendance and proved rather popular with his antics on the Mercedes test track. All pics were taken with Sigma 50-150 f2.8 and heavily cropped because of that limitation - afraid my 70-300 has now completely given up the ghost.
#1 - now WHO might the hooligan be throwing donuts in a golf buggy on 3 wheels?

#2 - yep, its that boy Hamilton

#3 - Then he appeared in his more usual chariot

#5 - A lot of opposite lock for the crowds, he was really showboating

Great set! The one showing opposite lock is great, it must take some serious guts to slide an F1 car around! The last photo is my favourite, I've got a top gear wallpaper almost identical to that actually, allbeit more zoomed in on his helmet!
Then it was on to the charity bit, taking one very lucky person round in this Mercedes-Benz McLaren 722 GT
#7 - I liked this because of the Mercedes sign in the background, appropriate I thought.

#8 - you cant see it, but I can assure you, the passenger is grinning like a kid on christmas morning

Next up for the boy wonder was a drive in Sir Stirling Moss' GP winning W196
#9 - he was struggling to find gears for a lap, as the box is reversed in these, but after that he was well away

#10 - It all in the eyes behind the helmet

Finally, a picture from Mr LL, who had the D70s with an 18-70 lens on board - I loved this when I saw it because the car in foreground is a classic old Merc and beyond, Hamilton is throwing the latest in modern Mercedes technology around the track.

Great set of pics. So where's the pic of you grinning as you drive around the circuit?!!
Thanks guys, appreciated. I was quite pleased considering the limitations of the lenses I had at my disposal

That is a brilliant set. I really like the one on opposite lock!!
Yeah no.5 is a cracker of a shot, not very often you see an F1 car drifting :D
Wonderful set of photos, really captures the atmosphere of the day. The 3 wheel buggy shot is classic.
Nice set, I was hoping you may of had some of him losing it and taking to the grass in the McLaren. Heiki managed to keep the Mclaren on the black stuff but took to the grass in the W196 instead this afternoon. I'll try and get mine posted up later, nothing to great, My eldest son was having a driving lesson just before hand so we missed all the best vantage points for photos.
Nope, I think we missed his very last run if it was on that one. These were all from the first run. From his second run I have a set at 5fps of his attempted donut in the same area [these were all tight in front of the Merc building] I just haven't had time to process anymore yet.
Really like these, the classic cars look sweet and the images of Lewis Hamilton in his F1 ride are great. Those look like road going tires on the F1 car.
5, 6 and 10 are crackers... !

They are actually full wet tyres, not sure why his first run was on those, the rest were on slick grooves
