Just looking for something else and found a couple of my old Ducati 749, seeing too many accidents on the road took me to the track - its spiritual home :)

Is that a protective shield for the bike for use on track?

Nice use of wheat matey in 1 & 2 :) :)

Shame you let her go. That Croft shot brings back a few memories I bet.

I had alot of fun on that bike and especially at Croft Guy, although I knew I had to wind my neck in, is it Tower bend, backside of the track, righthander ?

When I dug the peg in there and everything else was decked out I was scared - me and the 749 had some great times together, still see it from time to time and it is serving Steve well - I still remember that shot been taken, still to this day I don't know where you were but I loved that section !

Shield ?

Yeah, the body looks like it's covered in some sort of protective cover? The black panels. I don't know anything about bikes, as you can probably tell lol.

No, they are just aftermarket fibreglass fairings, no light cut out, so the headlight unit can be removed, rough old track fairings cost me about £250 - If I was to bin it on the original road fairings it would have been upwards of £1000 to replace, some people like to paint the track fairings up like race replicas, me I prefered to spend the cash on extra trackdays, it still looks pretty to me, even if it is a bit MadMax, it served a purpose while the imaculate original Red fairings were wrapped in bubble wrap in my attic !

Bike was put back to std and sold on, new owner fully aware of its history, although some would argue it spent its life doing what it was designed to do - people are far to precious with bikes and cars, it was designed to be ragged round a track, it got it and very rarely missed a beat, serviced to schedule and no expense spared :)
