Although extremely new to photography I have replaced my bridge camera for an Olympus E510 DSLR.

Still have a long way to go and am trying to take as many pics as possible with the new camera.

Here are a couple of shots that I got today when I met up with my mother to take the dogs for a walk.

C + C appreciated as always to help with the learning curve.

The boarders were a result of some experimenting with Photoshop so my apologies if they don't work.

No 1, "Wet Dog", 1/640 F10 132mm ISO 400 cropped (probably my favorite).

N0 2, "Another Wet Dog", 1/640 F4.3 55mm ISO 200 cropped.

Thanks.

Lovely looking dog & pin sharps shots. You've certainly got yourself a good camera & lens !!
#2 is my fave, but I'm not too keen on the border, unfortunately

you were brave with your new camera. normally wet dogs and cameras don't go together!

Thank you for the comments.

I know from a composition point of view the background is probably a bit busy on these shots but I wanted to post them as I was pleased with the sharpness of my new camera.

What has surprised me most is the reduction in noise compared to my previous bridge camera but I suppose this is to be expected considering the increase in sensor size.

Just 1 question about the two pictures. Would you say that the 2nd shot is under exposed slightly as to me it seems a bit dark, or would you say the opposite in that the 1st shot is too bright. Or do you think they are both OK ?

Thanks

I'm loving one. YOu get to see the water so you understand the setting (otherwise it could have been wet from the garden hose). Two is a good pic technically but I feel it is too cramped and the dog needs some space to the right to look into. All in all technically great shots!

Thank you all for the comments.
The dogs do seem to make very good subjects to practice my photography skills on.
