After banging on about maybe getting an iMac for the last few months I ended up buying a PC from James (Moos3h) last night. It's very high specced as can be seen here (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=68756) and runs like a dream, everything is so much quicker - at last! Cost was a major factor as this machine was less than a quarter of the cost of the iMac.

It's got Vista installed which is actually quite pleasant to use and after spending last night and this morning installing software, importing photos etc I notice that TIFF files are showing up as Microsoft Office Document Imaging File (.tif), any ideas why this might be and what can I do to rectify it?

File associations is pretty much like XP. Right click one of your tif files in explorer. >properties. 'Open with' button.... choose program (If you don't see your preferred option choose browse and find it). Couple of apply/OKs and job done.

I think all you have to do is right click the raw file, select open with and then in the drop down menu that appears choose select default program, and then choose your prefered program to open the file then all files of that type will open with your chosen program.

dam must type quicker

All my tiffs on XP are shown the same as yours, I have just set it to open them in Photoshop.

If OpenWith doesnt show up, hold down shift then right click.

Choose OpenWith, then tick the "Always open with this program", choose PotatoShop and away you go
