Yes that is the correct title, wedding photographs from me!
Yesterday [Saturday] I was Second Tog at a wedding by DiddyDave to say I was a tad nervous, was more than an understatement, but after the shots at the brides house, I was fine and raring to go.
I had my D200 with Dave's 90mm lens attatched, and thats how I shot all day. Fixed 90mm. Great for some shots, remembering to have to step back for others. It was a great learning experience, and roll on the next one.:lol:
Whilst Dave did all the formal stuff, I did all th candids, and different takes and angles of what Dave was doing....so here are some of the pics, and I hope you like them, and give constructive Crit.
Thanks for looking!

Any comments are appreciated...:)
Very well done. Nice images and great natural looking colour which is more than half the battle. You can be proud of those. I really like No 8 but is it just a tad soft judging by the eye lashes?

3 n 8 s great :)
Thank you...where did this come from?
When I added the others last night....they showed straight after one another. How strange.
I think 8 could be a little sharper....as I said to CT i'll look into it more and try re-editing it.
Pure C& C! :D The first thing that struck me about No.3 was that she was pregnant and putting her hands on her stomach (as they do!! ;))
The little girl has hair growing out of her nose which is also the first thing that struck me.
And, although I like the odd angles here and there.... Im never sure if the bride and groom will.... No.2 for instance, Id include a normal version too, just in case!
Ive just done my 3rd wedding ... I know the feelings you had... so well done you and here's to many more (without Dave too!!)
Of course, he could always be YOUR second shooter!

Overall I would say pretty good, you have a good eye for a shot. 1 and 11 are my favourites.
The funky angles are a bit OTT in my opinion - you see a lot of new wedding photographers (including me !) that have done this. Also, if a shot is meant to be straight (8 and 12), then leaving it a couple of degrees tilted is distracting.
The PP looks a bit flat & yellow to me, most of them could do with a little more punch. Especially no.5 which is a great shot. The B&W's look like grayscale conversions - a bit flat, try looking up the LAB conversion method.
Watch the backgrounds in shots like no.9, he has a drainpipe growing out of his head.
You have caught some nice moments there, I think a little more work on the files would really bring them out. Good job.
Duncan
Likes - Some great shots there, especially the one of young Jordan who looks like he's about to claw his way out of the tight collar, it's excellent and really suits the grainy black and white look but see below.
Dislikes - The angles, maybe on one or two shots but not on most of them, it's too much and in some cases makes the shot look worse (e.g. no.9)
/edit oops I meant Jordan!
I think that Jordan is saying "Jordan to base.......get me out of here"!
Nah, he's Clint Eastwood saying "The principal is on the move" from 'In the Line of Fire'

Thanks for the comments Janice, as I was second shooter and generally shooting from a distance, I'm sure Dave got enough "straight shots"
I didnt notice the hair when I was editing it, but its quite funny....I must have been distracted by Richard Hammond for a short while.
And she's not pregnant...I just wanted a detail shot...and it was one of the first ones that I took whilst I had the camera out of the bag....and I was nervous as hell.
As I stated that it was the first one that I had done, so everything is a complete learning curve for me.

Thanks for the comments Duncan, I have plenty of straight ones too, its just the ones that I prefered, and edited, tended to be the funky shots. And I have just under 300 shots - so there are straight ones in too.
I have looked at them on my work monitor, than my home monitor, and they do look different on here, the BW arent as punchy as they are on my home monitor.
I knew I had not straightend shot no8, but number 11 has been straighened...sometimes in old buildings and churches, you cant help but get a few degree's not straight...[even if its been straightend] as its just not possible, I had this long debate with one shot I did of Sheffield Catherdal a while back.
Thanks for your comments I'll definately keep them in mind.

Thanks for the comments Steep, the One of Jordan, was definately a "Grab Shot" as I saw it and just dived for the photograph  as stated these are only a selection, and not all of them are at angles.
And I quite happen to like no 9.

I'll admit I am a complete pedant when it comes to this, but 11 isn't straight - look at the verticals in the door archway, and also 12 - the verticals in the end of the pews.
I'm one of those people that is cursed with having to adjust other people's pictures on their walls, even if they're only .5 degree out.

0.5 degree out !!!
:eek::eek::eek:
Jeez - that's miles and so bloody annoying I'd be straight at it too
(See what I did there? - as the current vogue saying goes)

Oh, and in Del's defence - this is South Yorkshire mate - due to hundreds of years mining there isn't an old & straight building anywhere !!!
It'd do your nut in

Lol, probably 0.1 degrees out would unsettle me, I only said 0.5 so that you didn't think I was really weird.

You didnt mention 11 before, so ill give you that one.
Number 12, I have straightened it and sorted out the verticals, but I will, when I am home, try again.

:lol::lol: i said i'd not done anything to this one
LOL. It's easy to unintentionally tilt the camera by that much anyway.
I'm with Wedding Hack on this, where there are uprights in the viewfinder, I tend to try to align them with the edge of the viewfinder to keep everything square as much as possible.
Some great shots Dell and you should be chuffed with yourself! As others have said I think some of the tilts are a bit too much and the colour is a bit flat in some but nothing that can't be easily fixed. I've had a quick go at this one, let me know what you think....

Hacker's edit
ZING!
Agree with what the others have said, you've got some crackers but just a bit of post processing really makes them stand out as Hacker's just shown. I know some photographers poo-poo putting a lot of this kind of work in sayin get it right in camera but I find the processing really makes the difference between a good and a wow shot and I don't mind spending time doing it. As long as you have something good to work with in the first place you're on the right track.
Actions really help with processing weddings though.

Thanks for the comments Hacker....I will spend more time on them - as I said these were "quick" edits, its more the composition and the feelings and thoughts as that I was more hoping I'd captured. I quite like the edit thanks :)

Yeah I use actions for the studio stuff I do, so I can image why they work wonders for weddings too. :) I dont mind doing things with photoshop....every image has its own right to sparkle, but you cannot polish a turd

These are lovely shots Adele -I'm no expert on weddings but it seems that you've caught a lot of the natural side of the day. The first portrait and the little girl are corkers. The angles are a little disconcerting at times but if that was the brief you met it :D
I also like the arrival shot :D
Look forward to the next one!

I was nervous to start with, but then when I got into it, and kept checking them on the back of the Camera to make sure I was happy with them. Have your blinkies working, make sure that you shoot in RAW, you can always bring them back if they're just slightly blown.

nothing, expose your shots as normal, but you need to know if your computer and software can upload raw files.
