Just a quickie. Would a Sigma 10-20mm lens autofocus on a D40 body?

Yep, The lens is AF and the camera is AF-S :)

Sigma lenses that are HSM have built-in motors just like the Nikon AF-S lenses; as such, this lens - an HSM lens - will auto focus with the D40.
