Bottler :p

I'll be updating the D300 soonish (read: When i can be arsed). I've updated the D80 several times though, it's not hard :)

Yup, I've done my D300 because it was showing fully-charged batteries as empty. The new firmware is meant to cure this, but it turns out the problem was with the MB-D10 and not the camera :D

When I downloaded the firmware update it said that it had only downloaded the A version, so I downloaded it again and again....eventually I appeared to have both A+B so I went to do the upload.....and the battery was now flat in the camera!

One recharge later and the firmware went in without a hitch (so far). If the camera up and dies in the next day or so I'll let you all know

EDIT: As mattyh says, it's not hard, I did my D70 a few weeks back (I've only had it a couple of months and it only had 600 actuations on it) and now it has the D70s menus etc :D

Does it make any difference to anything else, or is it just the battery?

I want to add the D2x picture modes, as well.

Looks like just the battery

Do you shoot in RAW or jpeg? The D2x picture modes are only applicable for jpeg shooting

I shoot with RAW and basic JPEG or just high JPEG.

Done mine. No problems. Can't say i've noticed a difference. I think I read somewhere that it gives an artificial horizon on live view now. Not that I use live view!

Uncle Ken Rockwell told me they have installed a spy that alerts Nikon HQ if the owner is considering switching to Canon

I upgraded the D3 firmware almost straight away.
No issues here!

Around step five of the update where on the camera menu shows 'Done' and 'Update', I don't have the 'Update' option on my camera menu. I have tried following all of the previous steps and the memory card definitely has the firmware update showing on it as per instruction.

Anyone else had this issue or have any suggestions to fix it please?

Thanks in advance
Jas

Done both my D300 and D3, all seems fine (apart from the fact for some reason on the d3 it turned the bracketing on, so when shooting what I thought was 3 quick frames I was bracketing instead.....)

Maybe you put it in the wrong place on the memory card. Are you using a card reader? I did. I formatted my card in camera, put it in the card reader and dropped the firmware ( either A or B, but I did A first because i had to:cuckoo:) onto the cf card icon on the desktop. That way it goes in the right place on the card. Put the card in the camera and try again.

Allan, you were right as I didn't copy to the top level of the memory card and had done to a subfolder.

Many thanks

They are D2x picture controls for the D300, find them here (http://www.photographyblog.com/index.php/weblog/comments/nikon_d300_picture_controls_update/)

I put them in mine, but found I didnt really use them. Might have another go at them if the sun comes out this month!
