Here are some pictures from the practice day (yesterday) at Loch Lomond GC. All taken with my humble EOS400D mostly using the Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 lens, the 2 wide shots of the greens were with the 18-55 kit lens.

Ecellent series especially with those lenses.

Post more if you have some please.

I am going to Birkdale next week so I hope to get some as good as these.

Thanks tiler, I have over 200 but a lot didn't turn out as well as these and a lot are similar types of shot. Good luck at Birkdale - I hope the weather is more consistent than it was yesterday, constantly adjusting white balance/shutter speed/iso is a pain!

Some good shots there, a lovely course as well. I like the shot of Ernie Els in the bunker.

Good to see Monty is as happy as ever, a couple of years ago I took a shot of him picking his nose and he wasn't happy - I was subjected to the full 'Monty Glare'!

Nope, not me... I was at 1st green/2nd tee at the start of the pro-am, then in the 17th grandstand for most of the bunker shots. Got to agree the conditions made it difficult, typical for our climate!! I am finding out quickly the limitations of relatively inexpensive equipment.

FYI, the seniors open is at Troon later this month if you're looking for more practice.

I was the fella wandering around the 16th Fairway, 17th Tee & Green in the peach T-shirt.

I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to Troon. Might be near a 19th for the seniors should you want another pic opportunity, lol

Some good shots Jack..
The Havret tee shot is my fav..
Have you a press pass? How did you manage to get your camera in? Thought they were very strict on the No Camera Policy?

When I bought the tickets on european tour website, the terms and conditions said no cameras allowed on championship days, which implied that it was ok on practice days.

When my tickets came for the practice day it said no cameras on the ticket, but when I phoned to confirm the girl in the ticket office said that must be a mistake because they are always allowed on practice days.

I'd double check with bigger events but apparently they are OK on practice days.

did my first Golf shoot at a charity match the other day at Aberdour so i know how hard it can be ! nice set of shots........just wondered ..... why dont you shoot in raw that would save you adusting your white balance etc until after the fact?

I do shoot in RAW/Manual. I see where you're coming from but it's better to try and get it right on the camera so I can check the other settings are all OK. That was a wee tip I got from the Wildlife Trust official 'tog a few weeks ago.

Hi.

Those are great pics, another subject to add to my ever growing list.

I like the close up of the ever cheerful Monty.

BTW when did Rod Stewart get a green keeping job?.

Great set of shots mate.

I was going to ask about the no camera policy, but you've already answered it! We were at the Open at St Andrews a few years back and they were very strict with enforcing the policy!
