Hi Guys!

I need some help! I have just purchased a Nikon SB800 (hasn't arrived yet).

As I am new to flash can anyone suggest which diffuser would be best? I am currently assisting a wedding photographer and will be photographing guests at events/parties.

The question is should I purchase the Stofen Diffuser or a Gary Fong? any suggestions/advise welcome!

Thanks!

out of those two, the fong style for sure. basically, the bigger the light source the softer it will be.

There are some other fold out attachment types that give you an even bigger source but you have to decide how much stuff you're happy to have bolted to the top of the camera. :)

Which would you suggest the clear or cloudy one?? ? Do they stay on my friend advised I would need velcro etc?

I have the cloudy and I've always been really impressed with how it performs but I've not tried the clear to compare. It wasn't a very scientific decision, just that I've never seen a clear softbox or flash brolly. ;)

It's also nearly two years old and it's still a good snug fit on the flash.

Lambency do a Gary Fong 'lookalike' on Ebay. However last time I looked they were only selling the Whaletail design. It's worth searching as the Lambency versions are considerably cheaper.
