yeah... "top quality chinese knock-offs" more like ;)

UV filter - 99% of DSLRs have a UV filter in front of the sensor anyway. Throwback from film days.
Get a half-decent Circular Polariser (Jessops, Hoya, Hoya Pro etc), same diameter as your largest lens, and some step-down rings to fit your other lenses...

You no doubt get what you pay for up to a certain point, where the law of diminidhing returns kicks in. On filter that is probably somewhere around £60, where paying more you need to be earnign your living from the pics or printing large images.

Cheap filters are just that, but when used on entry level kit and small prints or for PC screen display are probably not that noticeable. I think i'd be looking at the 7 day shop ones, if only because they are slightly more expensive !

I would search ebay for user "camerapartner" he sells filters dirt cheap and they are excellent quality.

I have them on all my lenses, spent £35 on a good quality Uv from jessops, when i got another lens of the same size i bought one off ebay for £2.99, i bought a CPL at the same time, £4.99. So thats 2, 77mm filters for £10 to my door.
Taking the same shot with the same settings etc there are no noticeable differences between the expensive one and the cheap one.

The ones i have are branded Sakar, comes with protective case etc too.

Hi Mewstar,

As others have suggested 7 day shop.

http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/default.php?cat=1&type=1280&man=0&filterwords=&go=SEARCH&comp=

Go for the Tiffen kit at the bottom of the page.

as you are asking trhe question does your own suspicion not tell you that they may not be the best?

would agree not superb, 7 day shop, also some uk based traders on ebay are excellent for filters.
