Had a forced trip to Colchester Zoo today thought I'd just take some snaps to pass the time.
Unfortunately the light wasn't all that great and all taken hand held and through glass. Oh and as is usual for me very little PP. C&C Welcome .... be gentle :(

I did see someone with a rubber lens hood which would have helped.:bang:
Team Sony
The animals are great, it's the backgrounds which detract from the shots. #4 is an intense shot of a tiger and works really well apart from the wire and its shadow.

I agree with you and this I think is a big minus with the layout of Colchester Zoo. There just seems too much in the way of cages and not enough of the animals natural type surroundings. The zoo's want people through the gates and they are a necessity to keep alive many of the species that are endangered in the wild but I can't help feeling that there must be a better to plan these places out.

I agree with all the above.
The leopard looks pretty angry - perhaps he wants more freedom to gain access to the visitors  I wouldn't want to be in charge of his dental care, though, or the tiger's in #4.
I think you've done a good job in difficult circumstances.

I think he/she took offense to my bright orange tiger print t-shirt. :)
That is the onyl problem with Colchester zoo. The layout is disgusting. Surprised you didnt get some shots of the sealions and the penguins. There always a laught to get shots of.
But the Lions are the most easiest as they have an open area, well they did last time I went. Which was about 2 years ago =\
Good set there though.
Do you live in Colchester by any chance?
