Nice capture but I think the low quality jpeg is reducing the impact of the shot. You can go up to 200k now for external linked images.

Both taken with the 1D mkII N and the originals are awesome ;)

Thats more like it. The detail is fantastic. Could still take a slight sharpen and there are a few blown highlights around the eyelid but easily fixed.

thats excelent, though the compression is clear on both images, how are you resizing them?

For the web and quickness MS Photo Editor otherwise I always use CS2 for prints etc.

The 2 images above are straight off the camera and untouched, cept the 2nd has been cropped.

Cloned out blown highlights around eyelid and on eyebrow.
Resized to 740px wide using bicubic sharper.
Added border.
Applied small amount of USM.
Save for web optimised to 160k filesize.

Absolutely amazing clarity

The only thing it needs is a little life in the eye.

I've written a tutorial on a quick and easy way to do this but looking at your pic you probably know how to do it in your sleep.

I just need to html the tutorial as it's currently posted on POTN and it wouldn't be appropriate to directly link to another forum.

This was an example of what can be done and basically involves quickmask mode to paint the eye red and gaussian blur it a little, back to standard selection mode inverted, raise levels and saturation and dodge tool on the catchlight.

EDIT: A quick example on your shot:
